Earlier this month, Hunter Lawyers launched an event to celebrate Chinese new year and to raise awareness to rising asian hate crime.
Hunter Lawyers handed out over 150 red envelopes in the UK stuffed with cash and prizes. Along with the lucky envelopes came a strong message that discrimination will not be tolerated.
The number of hate crimes reported to the police in London tripled at the start of the pandemic but many crimes go unreported.
Managing Director, Lucas Hunter (pictured second) said:
"Race is a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010. It refers to a group of people defined by their race, colour, and nationality (including citizenship) ethnic or national origins. Discrimination is unacceptable and indeed actionable in the UK. I would encourage anyone who suffers discrimination to seek professional advice from one of our solicitors"
He also said:
"We employ a number of asian members of staff and participating in Chinese new year in the way we have as a firm has been a great pleasure"
Solicitor, Rebecca Shakespeare (pictured sixth) said:
" We are pleased to have helped the local community celebrate Chinese New Year and are really pleased that local residents joined us earlier this month. One of our long standing clients brought their child along, who I'm sure you will agree looks adorable"
